Carolyn Pyfrom was born in Elba, AL, in 1971. She currently resides in Philadelphia, PA and teaches part-time at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and at the Fleisher Art Memorial. Carolyn studied at The Florence Academy of Art from 1998 to 2002, receiving a work-study scholarship from the school for the last 2 years of study and a teaching opportunity in the last semester. She received a B.A. in studio art and mathematics from Troy University, Troy, AL, 1995; also studied at Obirin University, Tokyo, Japan, 1993-94 and worked in Japan from 1995 to 1998. Twice a recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant, 2005, 2003, as well as grants from the Fleisher Art Memorial, 2004, American Society of Classical Realism, 2001; and the John F. and Anna Lee Stacey Foundation, 2001.
