Urban Larsson was born in Stockholm 1966. He is a prolific painter who not only paints portraits, but also still lifes, landscapes and nudes. He studied History of Art at the University of Stockholm and at the Stockholm School of Architecture. Larsson then moved to Florence, Italy, to study at Studio Cecil & Graves. After his studies in Florence he moved to Amsterdam to settle as a painter. His portraits are painted only from life through sittings. His many sitters have included the President of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences, the former Mayor of Wassenaar, the Bishop of Haarlem, the former Italian Ambassador to the Netherlands. In 2002 he was commissioned to paint the official portrait of the Dutch ex Prime Minister Wim Kok. Several galleries in the U.S.A. and Europe represent his “portrait pictures”, still lifes and landscapes.
